Accessibility
Accessibility, refers to the practice of ensuring that information, activities, and environments are usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. It's about making things accessible to a wide range of individuals, not just those with disabilities, but also those who may have temporary or situational disabilities or be in different environments.
RICI embraces the social model of disability - that disabled people are disabled by the environment around them, not by sickness and physical impairments.

Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD)
Accessibility is not just about stairs vs ramps. It is also about accessibility to information.
Global Accessibility Awareness Day - third Thursday of May.
The purpose of GAAD is to get everyone talking, thinking and learning about digital access & inclusion, and the more than One Billion people with disabilities/impairments.
Blind Low Vision NZ: Global Accessibility Awareness Day:
- an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of digital accessibility and the challenges faced by people with disabilities when it comes to accessing the internet, communications and technology.
