Disability Support
RICI's kaupapa is based on the Enabling Good Lives approach and principles. Building inclusive communities benefits all New Zealanders. Disabled people should be supported to live an everyday life in everyday places; and regarded as full citizens with opportunities for learning, employment, having a home and family, and social participation.
There is no central service in the Rodney District that provides information about local supports for disabled people and their families. This is very isolating and problematic for those who need this information. RICI is committed to filling this gap. RICI is a place-based and community-led networking group. See our Local Directory that lists disability support groups, inclusive activities, and service providers in the Rodney District and neighbouring regions. This is a work in process. We proactively seek to fill in any gaps that come to our attention.
For updates and information about 'What's On' in the wider Auckland region, see Disability Connect - a Disability Information Advisory Service based in Penrose. They operate throughout Auckland; north to Warkworth and south to Bombay.
